the newly released opensxce for x86 seems to lack access to terminals, except
by calling on xterm. the xterm which comes up can be modified in color
by using 'xterm -fg yellow -bg black' for instance. but i have not been
able to increase font size using the '-fn xxx' command.

the stock font size i miniscule.

The -fn option selects a bitmap font; if none are installed, you will see
only the "fixed" font. The -fa option selects a TrueType font. Something
like "xterm -fa mono" might be a good place to start.
